Celebrity Profile: Don Jazzy



Micheal Collins Ajereh a.k.a Don Jazzy is the C.E.O of Music Record Label, Mo Hits Records. He grew up in Ajegunle, Lagos and attended Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma. He later moved to the UK. The 28 year old Music Producer and Song Writer has produced alot of songs and had previously worked with top UK based artistes like Lemar Obika, Big Brovaz and JJC and the 419 Squad.



Don Jazzy left the UK and returned to Naija to form one of the most successful collaborations when he discovered talented ex-military man, Dapo Oyebanjo and together they started the now internationally recognized label known as Mo Hits Records. D'banj became the face of the Record Label and his debut album "No Long Thing" in 2004 was a hit and took the Nigerian Music Industry by storm. Songs like Rundown, Why Me, Tongolo and Loke were rocking the airwaves and the Mo Hits popularity was rising.



Don Jazzy started building an empire and signed more artistes under his successful label including his brother, D'Prince, K-Switch, Dr SID and Wande Coal. The Mo Hits Records compilation album was released in December 2007 to introduce the newly signed artistes. The album was another hit and included songs like Anaconda, Booty Call, Move your body and Close to you. Curriculum Vitae as the album was called brought Wande Coal to the limelight. Wande Coal released his debut album, Mushin 2 Mohits which won the artist alot of awards.

D'banj continued to produce albums and won the MTV Europe Music Award Best African Act in 2007 adding more popularity to the label. Don baba J as he is also called has won numerous awards most recently Hit Producer of the Year 2009 at the SMVA awards and Producer of the Year at the Hip-Hop World Awards 2010.
