Asa's "Beautiful Imperfection"

OK Ok, There has been a lot of talk about Asa and how she is one of Naija's hope for a Grammy Award. Asa's second album, Beautiful Imperfection is Music of the soul and if you listen to this album you would realise why people think she can win the prestigious music award. I personally have no doubt that she would she would get nominated within the next few years. Beautiful Imperfection, just like her first album, Asha [2007] is a mindblowing R&B/Soul Album and just like the first album that had instant hit tracks like Fire on the Mountain, Jailer and Bibanke, Beautiful Imperfection has songs like QuestionsBimpe, Ok Ok, Baby Gone and Be My Man which also has a very impressive video..

Asa, pronounced, Asha which means "Little Hawk" was born in 1982 in Paris, France.. Her real name is Bukola Elemide. She attended Peter King's Music School and learnt the guitar. She returned to France to pursue her career in music.. This young talented singer-guitarist got inspired by the works of legends like Macy Gray, Jill Scott, Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill. She did a collaboration Manu Dibango and is currently signed to the French Label, Naive Records.

Asa's music is heavenly and different from d usual and this is gaining her a lot of recognition and fame.. In 2008, she won the Prix Constantin Award in France and she has been previously nominated for the MTV African Music Awards.. Her Beautiful Imperfection album which was released on October 25th has been shortlisted as one of the best albums of the year by iTunes France and it is also making waves in other European countries like Germany and Switzerland. I think she is one Nigerian artist that should be emulated by her compatriots.

“I want my music to touch people. As an African, I want to give hope back to my people, but also to speak in their name. I want to show the world that something beautiful and positive can come out of the black continent and inspire young people all over the world.” ~ Asa

Who needs Tracy Chapman when we've got Asa. This is a five star compilation!
